Actual Participation

Philip Blosser at Pertinacious Catholic has some very thoughtful observations on "actual participation" in the liturgy. He argues that much which was introduced in the 1960s actually obscures the nature of what is being celebrated and rather leading us to God it leads us to one another. He examines Cardinal Arinze's statement that "people come to Mass and do not understand".

Interesting little article… I have put a link to a translation of the Motu Proprio of St Pius X on my blog, to be found on Adoremus.org. Also written a few extra thoughts, but some more to follow, esp. surrounding what constitutes ‘participation’ and ‘active vs. actual’.

Will also try and explore concepts of ‘community’ and ‘society’ both of which (along with so much) have been awfully abused.

Comments welcome!
