Will pray. The devil loves isolation. This girl must not be isolated.

Without telling any details, I can say that I did know a woman who told me that when she was a young married woman, her husband, an atheist, "wasn't ready to be a dad." She herself was not much of a practitioner of her faith at the time, and consented to an abortion to please her husband. She told me she regretted it ever after - and that not a day went by when she did not think of that child.

Young girls getting pregnant out of wedlock has been going on since time began. But the biggest lie of all to the over-sexualised youth (at frighteningly young ages) is that there are no consequences to sex.
I will pray for this girl and all like her. I suppose I should pray for the father too - he may well be a young, frightened teen. If an older man, I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Unless I'm wrong AFAIK 16 is the minimum age of consent in England and Wales. I don't know if there are slightly different laws applicable if both parties are close in age and under a certain age.

In my abbey we have devotions today to St. Siardus, a Premonstratensian abbot from the 12th century (?). He is invoked as a patron for young mothers. I will pray for the mother and for the life of her child.
