Lenten Recipes


Skilly:
Take one small handful of oatmeal, add to one pint of boiling water and an a pinch of salt, stir whilst cooking, until cooked.


Variations

Thin Skilly:
add either more water or less oatmeal.


Penitential Skilly:
Same recipe, except, do not either add salt or stir, serve cold.


Feastday Skilly:
Same recipe but add a vegetable peeling or two.


Gruel:

Recipe as above. but changing the name will enable you to offer greater variety during Lent.
