Reading the article I think they meant English speaker rather than Englishman. Di Noia would be an excellent choice.

Yes, yes, Englishman caught my attention, only to be a bit disappointed to find an American with an Italian name!
Yes, although they clearly say "Englishman" in the first paragraph, it turns out they are talking about (as Fr Blake says) an American with an Italian name.
