I've yet to meet an atheist in a foxhole - and I've been in a few.
Looks like the Russo-Japanese war of 1905.
Interesting about the mines. Most are tethered and the floating ones have broken loose. A naval friend of mine recalled a picture of a mine being fended off a ship by a broom!
