[I can't stand Silent Night...or is it just me? There is no Christmas song more treacly and vomit inducing to me. I'd sooner hear 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.']

As for drums and tambourines in Church, I think the only solution is summary execution by firing squad, out of fashion as that is. And don't even go there if the cantor announces 'Our gathering song will be....' It's enough to make one look at one's watch and say: 'if I get the hell out of here now, I can just make it to Saint X's before the offertory.'gemoftheoceanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05521207668262592414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31069882.post-46774035982699745832010-11-12T17:35:52.048+00:002010-11-12T17:35:52.048+00:00I do want to state that under no circumstances do ...I do want to state that under no circumstances do I want 'happy clappy' guitars in a church. As far as I am concerned they have had 40 years to get it right and lets face it they haven't!

I think that there should be a change to orthodoxy which I keep predicting will happen in the next 50 years and, let's face it, is happening already. Our liberal bishops have already started losing battles for the first time in living memory.

I do however, think that the Latin Mass Society/Traditional priest can't win the battle out right. So I am suggesting a return to orthodoxy in church However, lets update the extra-liturgical activities. This way the Latin people/traditionalists are happy and the 'modern lot' are happy as well. There is no place for guitars in a church. But, the bishops will have to accommodate 'the modern lot' some how! Oh and I do expect the bishops to put the money up to organise it. If they want to lose the 'liturgically liberal' tag they are going to have to pay for it. Also, I do expect whatever they do to be high quality. Yes, I am am asking a lot IT CAN BE DONE!

I have said as much today in one of my replies at

http://catholicgadfly.blogspot.com/

I consider myself one of the Traditional/'New traditional' crowd but, there has to be balance and everyone has to be accommodated!ORA PRO NOBIShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17546605493757534530noreply@blogger.com
