I thought you might enjoy this, the Pope releases doves, from Sunday's Angelus but "they won't leave the Pope's house", he says and chuckles. I have same problem with pigeons at times.
Carol, that only applies to dog's 'droppings' if you step in it! :-D
[I wonder if that superstition is the same all over, even in Outer Mongolia.]
IF you ever do have problems with pigeons fouling certain areas (say they hang out over the church entrances) you can always discretely put up rows of thumbtacks on the ledges they want to lounge on.
gem - It doesn't just refer to stepping in dog muck actually. Having a bird do it's droppings on you is considered good luck for some reason in this part of the world. Do you have to pretend you are an expert on everything? God help us!
Carol, that's why there was a 'smiley' after what I said. Get a grip! At any rate, one hopes for luck, since it would be a nice reward for getting 'dumped' on.

No safe places out there, they might have sensed.
I suppose if it had done droppings on his head it would have been lucky!
Let's hope that they are not the only ones to not want to leave the casa del papa!
Maybe if he had brought one of his beloved cats to the balcony the doves wouldn't have stayed around so long!
