Octave of Pentecost – I have always regretted that Pope Paul VI
abolished the Octave of Pentecost in the Ordinary Form of Mass, This year, in our Ordo, there
are no feasts during the coming week, so I shall offer votive Masses
of the Holy Spirit throughout the coming week, remembering most especially the Vicar of Christ, and safety of the Church in her mission to teach, with clarity, the nations.

I agree that it does not make sense that there should be no Octave of Pentecost, but according Fr. Hunwicke it was Pius XII who abolished it.
No, I think you have misread JH, Pius xii abolished the ancent Vigil of Pentecost, Paul vi, or rather Bugnini, abolished it Octave.
There is that interesting story of Pvi going into the sacristy on Whit Monday and beng surprise at being given green vestments, saying it was the Pentecost Octave and being told, "But Holy Father, you abolished it!"
Fear Father Blake, perhaps I'm obtuse or not as perceptive as I should be but could you just state your position clearly in respect to this debacle the has overtaken the Church.
I stand corrected. Apologies. Happy Pentecost Father :-)
gk,
No, not because I am obfuscating, simply I do not understand what God is doing. I pray for enlightenment.
The church is devoid of real leadership. Those currently 'leading' are weak, effeminate and simply have no fire in the belly. Satan is having a field day.
I have followed your example, Father, and am celebrating votive Masses of the Holy Spirit this week - as I have the traditional Form on two of the days anyway, it saves changing the altar frontal. Thank you.
And it was of course Harold Wilson who abolsihed the Whitmonday bank holiday
In Fatima at least one priest followed your example! A Dominican and ad orientem.
