Abortion ads on your TV

And now along with loo roll and breakfast cereal  the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) are to allow abortionists to advertise tearing a child limb from limb in its mother's womb on television and radio.
“BCAP noted that such organisations offer legally available services and, if they comply with other rules in the BCAP Code, there is nothing to prevent them from advertising their services like other currently allowed (post-conception advice services) PCAS, in a responsible manner which does not mislead, harm or offend audiences.”

So if you are offended - complain complain complain! Under previous rules, only one advert concerning abortions, by the charity Marie Stopes International, has ever been aired on UK screens. The advert, in 2010, attracted more than 4,500 complaints.

So it really is OK to advertise MURDER,some men were convicted yesterday of something similar but that was against Homosexuals.

There is obviously bundles of money to be made from abortions tnd that is what is most important these days. The genius who thought it up will probably get Knighted or at least get some other silly award glorifying the Good old Days of Empire.

Do you not think that pro-lifers ought to try to raise funds to produce a campaign of counter ads like the ones that have been so effective in the US? I'm thinking of the one with the heartbeat?

Blondpidge,
Good idea

blondpidge -- you beat me to it... what about 'don't kill your child...get help' - naturally, since the Catholic adoption agencies were also killed, this doesn't help -- but somewhere like perhaps a super agency that distributes monies to various organizations like Good counsel and other places that help pregnant women get support? Also it's very useful psychologically if a woman can get a scan of her baby -- I've been told that quite frequently once the mother sees the child in the womb, it's no longer the 'blob' PP make it out to be and the mother is much less likely to have an abortion than had she NOT seen the ultrascan.

Blondpidge.

I'm sure that the advertising standards people would deem our ad too offensive.

Father

I have discussed this shoking news with my Mass flock this morning. I have decided to start a vocal protest in my parish newsletter and my local press.

Join me Fathers and all people of Good Will. We must make our protests against abortion heard.

All you IT experts perhaps could also help us?

Set up a web site so people can lodge their protests. The Families of The Victims of the Hillsbrough Disaster did the same. They sought 100,000 complaints to open an enquiry. Could we not ask for the same?
Lawyeratwork - could you help us out please?

You can't compete with those diabolical, murderous organisations by TV Advertising, they pose as Non-Profit making Charities and get preferential rates supported by taxpayers,we are paying for this sickening crapulous rubbish.

If they proposed some Post-Natal abortion we could all put forward some names

How to stop advertising abortion on the TV - Stop buying the product or service offered in the advert before the abortion advert and the one after. The other advertisers will then do put a stop to it.

I think that in Northern Ireland the law on abortion is different. Will these nationally broadcast advertisements be legal there?

"Stop buying the product or service offered in the advert before the abortion advert and the one after"

Yes; and let the advertisers and the TV channels know that this is what you will do. The best way would be to get a campaign going to boycott watching UK commercial TV altogether. If it is big enough, the advertisers will soon put pressure on the TV channels. Hit them where it hurts .. in the pocket!

And if you meet heistation from waverers and people who think abortion is a sad but necessary evil sometimes (I don't) just point out that the only purpose of advertising abortion services is to *increase* the number of abortions and to make money from others' misery.

The darkest hour is just before the dawn ...

Of course they are hoping that these ads over time will normalise abortion and people will come to accept abortion right along with deoderant and breath freshener as a normal part of life.

Just before Christmas Christians generally were invited to boycott Tesco in view of their support of Gay Pride marches. After Christmas the headline appeared "Tesco suffers 2.3% drop in sales over Christmas". This was in contrast to other stores who showed an increase. Does this perhaps show that such campaigns can have an effect?

On the subject of the unborn I would strongly recommend:

We need to get our own house in order at the same time. There are very worrying rumours about the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth. Please pray that our leading Catholic hospital shall return to orthodox Catholicity.

That you are prepared to air adverts for the promotion of abortion is extremely damaging for a young generation who are already harassed by a culture of death at every turn. I sincerely request that you reconsider your intentions to air these adverts in the interests of young people who have identified themselves as being among the unhappiest in the world.

I'm sure that the bishops' conference is on the case. We can expect full and public leadership.

I agree with Steve and Gupta

Boycott the adverts juxtaposed to the abortion ad and let this be publicly known and publish which ads they are. Then people can write to the organisations and tell them what we are doing.

The ASA carried out a survey a year or so ago. There was a large response and they didnt like what they saw. So they paused, did a test ad with Marie Stopes and now feel confident enough to tell the public what they really should have. It's nothing more than the dictatorship of the liberal elite.

johnf said...

Oh dear - a slip of the fingers and mind somewhat detached. I meant to say, 'nothing less than a dictatorship by the liberal elite'

Boycotting adverts juxtaposed to the abortion ads would need some organisation. I for do not watch C4 all that much but would be willing to write to the CEOs of companies advertising next to the abortion slot.

Any ideas about how this might be organised?

People power is very effective and can gain very good results.

Protests made without any form of violence are effective also.

I humbly suggest:

Write, phone, email and speak out.
Contact your local and national media stations and papers.

Contact your MP and give your objction in written form.

Unite with your local clergy and make written representations individually or as groups.

I also suggest a strong worded statement from the English Bishops is essential.

Let every Christian Church hear from the Bishop in a read out statement during Sunday Masses.

United we stand - divided we fall.

Someone could set up something on the web for protests to be made.
The guidelines are simple.

Fr Ray
If someone sets up a protest web site could you please post the address here so we can respond?

I looked at your profile.
Thank you. I especially like the picture of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

I wonder if we could get some posters for our churches similar to your tee shirt ad?

STOP ABORTION. STOP ADVERTISING MURDER.

I would like to hear a united voice from all the Bishops in the United Kingdom by way of a pastoral letter - in the next couple of weeks - please.

Hi Ginka
I only take all these images off the internet via google.co.uk (click on images instead of web)
put in a search for "stop abortion" and you have a whole selection:)

but put in "stop advertising murder" under the images category and there's not a foetus in sight.

Put in "stop advertising murder" under the web category and you get top of the list: Remove the Abortion Advertisment on Channel4 - but GUESS WHAT coincidentally it says:

"We're sorry, but something went wrong.

We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly."

Here's the URL anyway:

www.petitiononline.com/petitions/1saved/signatures?page=43

(Sorry this is so longwinded but it might help someone else:

I have just now telephoned Channel4 direct on 08450760191 and got through to a very pleasant man with a Northern Ireland accent who asked me what programme I was referring to - I said I didn't know during what programme the adverts were going to be aired but I was ringing to make a complaint about abortion adverts for Marie Stopes being aired tonight. He took my name and asked what part of the country I was calling from and said he would pass on my concerns, but that it was the Advertising Agency I should really be speaking to as they were the ones who would have given the OK for airing these adverts.

Here is my submission to the Advertising Standards Authority:

http://www.asa.org.uk/Complaints/How-to-complain.aspx

I found out from various sources on the internet including The Mail Online that the abortion advert for Marie Stopes is to be aired on Channel 4 tonight Monday 23rd January 2012

Channel4 told me that if the abortion advert for Marie Stopes was being aired tonight on Channel4, you would have given permission for it to be aired and therefore my complaint should be redirected to you

Marie Stopes
Registered charity in England and Wales,
charity number: 265543

the product?: abortion

description of the complaint:

Marie Stopes International is registered as a charity but is wealthy enough to advertise abortion on prime-time TV in the UK which is expensive. As abortion uptake by women is on the decrease in recent times, it can only be that Marie Stopes wish to increase their income from women having abortions. This increase would have to be of a substantial amount for it to be worth their while to advertise. I put it to you that young people today are exposed to far more destructive influences to their health and mental wellbeing than ever before. They certainly are being given the impression that human life is cheap and disposable. Ironically, they are not able to see smoking adverts on the TV because "smoking kills", albeit 0.33 to 0.5 of smokers will die 15 years sooner as a result of smoking. The great irony of all this being that virtually 100% of those aborted will have had zero chance to choose to live, demographics are being skewed and the effects on the economy are harsh when the population dwindles and migration is the only way to sustain an economy. This is all done under the guise of women making their own free choices to have a baby or get rid of it. The reality coming to light is that women are very often coerced by partners, parents and/or employers into something they are not comfortable with and regret for the rest of their lives.
Please explain why you have authorised the advertising of abortion on British TV which is murder by any other name.

Response – thank you for your complaint you will receive confirmation within 3-5 days.

Here is how to stop abortion:

"We have to build, while the others are demolishing. The crumbled citadels have to be rebuilt, the bastions of Faith have to be reconstructed; firstly the holy sacrifice of the Mass of all times, which forms saints; then our chapels, our monasteries, our large families, our enterprises faithful to the social politics of the Church, our politicians determined to make the politics of Jesus Christ – this is a whole tissue of Christian social life, Christian customs, Christian reflexes, which we have to restore."

Priests need to wrestle control of their Holy Ministry from the women that took it away from them fifty tears ago.
