Fake Video
Well of course I recognised it as a fake, but I was amused that this went viral and quite a few quite respectable blogs carried this video of JPII pracicing his baseball skills before a Mass somewhere in a US baseball stadium, they have now mostly been taken down.
The clues are obvious, white shoes - not red, or the reddish brown worn by JPII, Signor Gamerrelli would never produce a cassock and fascia like that.
As for the habits of the assistants, what order are they?
The informality and lack of defference too seem quite out of place.
Who can spot any other signs?

Yeah - Blessed JPII wasn't left-handed; although he did give left-handed blessings after he broke his right arm while skiing, but he was shot in the left hand. Plus HH played tennis - something that batter's never done [pitiable follow throughs and the ] Plus JPII was 5'10, a lot broader. There's also the fact that Grand Slam USA wasn't opened & supplying in that name until 1995 [yes there were plenty earlier grand slam venues but the USA handle comes later] and that's indicated by the speaker's reference to 'in the 1980's' [something one wouldn't say in 1987] plus softball among girls only increased after schools adopted it after it became an olympic sport in 1996. Sure there's much more...
Oh, shame, you gave the game away. ......
Wrong build and gait,immediately... but a lot of comparative effort has gone into the making of this, and I just wonder why? Doesn't really ridicule the Holy Father, or the Church. And not actually that humourous on a very basic level.
Blessed Pope John Paul II didn't have a boxer's nose!!!!
Pros don't use aluminum bats, which are an abomination unto the Lord. [Plus they make an ugly sound.]
thing is how many people without seeing it might've thought, 'jpii, baseball, yeah, why not - there's heaps of photos of the former pontiff casualing it up - the shorts and bandana on the fishing trip may have been only in the Cardinal days, but, still.'
The accent also proves that it is nothing but a hoax. That accent is all round American.
