Well, obviously John Paul II never wore it.
No one is likely to present Pope Benedict with a tiara, but he might quite like to be given a camelaucum, which was worn by popes from the early eighth century
and which predates both the tiara and the mitre.
Would it not be possible to submit a great worldwide petition to the Holy Father that he would again wear the tiara?
