Yikes! What's with the burning crosses!!! Where's the Ku Klux Klan? Are these people witnessing to their protestant martyrs or on the rampage for catholic blood?

Honestly, is this for real Fr Ray, or are you and Fr Biggerstaff winding us up? This cannot possibly be 'Middle England' in the 21st Century - Can it????

As Elizabeth said - looks like something out of hell!

God help all of us not just these fools in Lewes. Makes the idea of hate crime look quite tame really.

And they get away with it!

George, the 13 crosses are in remembrance of the Protestants who were burnt to death in the 16th century.

Fr Ray - OK I hear what you are saying BUT.....

Do London's Catholics parade in similar manner waving hangman's nooses, axes, all the tools that Henry V111ths torturers used on the Catholic Martyrs - oh yes with an effigy of the Queen thrown in for good measure???

It reminds me of the Orangemen and their pseudo-military parades through Catholic areas in Northern Ireland.

Designed not so much to venerate and commemorate but more to flare up old wounds and fan the flames of sectarian hatred and division.

Now, if they had a peaceful prayer vigil with candles and hymns that would be very different. It may be that Catholics might even join them in remembering a sad and divisive period in our Country when Christians should have known and behaved better. Indeed, our annual Catholic pilgrimage to venerate the Martyrs of England & Wales with a walk from the Old Bailey to Tyburn is exactly that - a peaceful march with prayer, hymns and the rosary.

There's something not quite right when they start burning crosses and mocking our Holy Father - and of course to the non-Christian onlookers it must seem very surreal. Do they return home thinking 'glad I'm not a Christian - they're all fanatics and nutters!' Very sad.

This is so offensive! Is it the Archbishop of Canterbury they are burning?
But seriously...it is not acceptable at all!
