BBC have just anounced that Pope Benedict is to resign later this year - I hope this is a hoax
Apparently Fr. Lombardi said: "The pope announced that he will leave his ministry at 8:00pm (7pm UK time) on February 28."

I feel greatly upset at this news.
There are times in our lives when all we can do is pray and now we must all pray for the Holy Father and for the Church.

Praying here too. Pope Benedict must be in such emotional and spiritual pain to make this choice.

I too am very saddened by the news of our wonderful Pope Benedict .I pray for him , and I also pray that his replacement will continue the good work that Benedict has done .
The news came to me by "Guido Fawkes Blog" and I thought it was some sort of joke, until I realised it was not.
Disturbing is an understatement.
I am shocked, saddened, distraught. But I am grateful that I have lived through this wonderful pontificate. Thank God for Benedict.
