Moscow Partriarch visits Beijing

The Patriarch of Moscow has just made an official visit to Beijing and was received by President, Xi Jinping.
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, recently paid an important visit to China, where he met the illegitimate Catholic bishop Joseph Ma Yinglin.

So, what is gioing on?
A Roman friend says the only westerner who might be able answer this question is the Nuncio to Great Britain, the former Nuncio to Russia.

As for Bishop Joseph, perhaps he was seeking advice on entry into Orthodoxy. Met. Hilarion is the obvious man to speak to.

Both these men regard subservience of Church to state as, not only acceptable but as the natural way of things. The fact that the Metropolitan met representatives of the Patriotic 'church' will be no coincidence.

Keep in mind that Rome had both the Emperor and the Bishop of Rome. They worked together. Patriarch Kirill represents the Eastern Roman tradition. In Russia, the Orthodox Church and the state are separate according to Met Hillarion. Also the Pope is also the head of a state. He is the head of the Vatican. Whereas Patriarch Kirill is not a head of state at all. He rules no country. Big difference to think about.

What's going on? Protection of the faithful, freedom to worship.

Good to know there's a mindreader such as Lepanto around. Otherwise, we'd have no way of knowing if what he claims about these two are real or not. Can I hire you for your mindreading skills in business? I sure could use somebody like that.
