St Charles Lwanga Pray for us

Today is the feast of St Charles Lwanga and his companions who chose death rather than submitting to the homosexual advances of King Mwanga of Uganda.
May his example give us courage in the struggle to come.

In the USA, most Americans side with the Homosexual King.

They criticize the children for not celebrating diversity and tolerance, and would throw Saint Lwanga in prison for teaching hate and intolerance to children.

This is probably the photograph with the largest number of canonized saints. A unique hagiographical and historical document.

Even the wikipedia page on St. Charles Lwanga is very impressive.

Inspiring!

Unfortunately, I think Pablo is correct. St Charles Lwanga is a patron of the Courage Apostolate. St Charles Lwanga pray for us!

Pablo, don't know about "most American", given the rampant cheating in the last election. But according to polling, the Mexican-Americans sure favored him, way in excess of any cheating factor. Over 70%. Thank them for NOTHING for me. I guess they wanted the "free" Obamacare more than they cared about the qualities of the guy in office.

Maybe if "your people" knew the faith better we wouldn't have had to suffer. [And I could say the same for the cretins northeastern deadheads like virtual any Kennedy type sycophant worshipers.]

The Good Padre did not do anything any other Padre could do at any other time in History.

He fed his Sheep.

He prayed for them in his Divine Office, did penance for them, and begged the Lord's protection for them.

He stayed with the Teachings of Christ as He had taught His Apostles, he stayed true to Tradition.

And after all that hard work he was rewarded with an St. before his name.

Truth never changes, and doing the right thing is always the same thing, forever.

The Priesthood of Jesus Christ never changes, it is the same always and is all things at once.

"Without the priest, the passion and death of our Lord would be of no avail. It is the priest who continues the work of redemption here on earth...What use would be a house filled with gold, were there no one to open its door? The priest holds the key to the treasures of heaven: it is he who opens the door: he is the steward of the good Lord; the administrator of His goods...Leave a parish for twenty years without a priest and they will end by worshiping the beasts there. The priest is not a priest for himself; he is a priest for you."
Saint John Marie Vianney

Thank you, Father Ray, for the photo of the martyrs which I've no added to my own post on them [http://bangortobobbio.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/the-martyrs-of-uganda-and-current.html].

Wow, a photo of them all!

Presidential voting aside, it's scary what Pablo has mentioned.

It could happen to any pious/trad Catholic who taught their children the true faith.

Re: what Pablo/St John Vianney says about the priest...

My husband and I strongly feel that the way we were brought up in the faith and the way the faith was practiced when we were children no longer exists in the Church of today.

So, hypothetically, if we received a letter from a comprehensive school complaining about our son's Catholic discriminatory attitude towards homosexuality, we wonder how many of the priests in the parish/diocese (let alone the bishop) would back us up.

Remember Abp Vincent Nichols "hold your tongues".

I wonder how many Catholics heard their parish priests preaching about praying to St Charles Lwanga to effect it so that the House of Lords throw out this same-sex marriage legislation?

I wish to know more about how homosexuality was a factor in this martyrdom.

I wish to know more about how this martyrdom was related to homosexuality. I have never read about that aspect in any accounts of LLwanga's martyrdom. I always thought it was a part of th widespread slaughter of Catholics happening in Japan at that time. Someone could email me to save time on this blog, if everybody else already knows. Thank you.

Don't be lazy, try "Google".

Charles Burns: You've got the wrong set of martyrs there. These were in Uganda, not Japan. Maybe you're thinking of Paul Miki & companions?

oh, yes, I did confuse the Japanese martyrs with Llawanga. I guess I need to read up on him and those who were martyred with him. Thank you

Having "googled" St Charles Llwanga et al, my only comment is that this sort of thing is no longer allowed by the neo-Catholic, Conciliar Church. We are into ecumenism now, and all those martyrs died in vain. They were so foolish, really, they should have "dialoged" with the Homo King, or maybe made him bishop of Los Angeles

I am not publishing that, I wonder what he would say about your own history.

At Matins/the Office of Readings on Holy Saturday the Church gives us this 'ancient homily', I find it incredibly moving, it is abou...
