Proof reading, checking texts seems to be 'the' problem with Vatican at the moment, if they can't get the Son of God's name right on the medal issued to commemorate the new Papacy, is there any hope?
I am told this banner appears on a Vatican website, I can only find it on the site of one of the parishes the Pope has visited. I think I remember seeing it on film at a Papal audience, again you would think someone might suggest it is 'inappropriate', some in the crowd should have suggested it should be taken down.There is something quite concerning going on, it worries me that there on the altar of Santa Marta rather than a crucifix dominating the altar and framed by candlesticks, it is so tiny that its absence would not be noticed, the floral decoration seems to be as important.
I am told on few occasions this Pope's predecessor after crowds chanted his name would look embarrassed and point to the crucifix. The message always has to be 'Jesus', there is no substitute, there is no room for error or mistake.Getting the name and place of Jesus right is more important than getting the Curia or the Vatican Bank right, failure to do so indicates a lack of seriousness about him.

It was on the flickr picture set uploaded onto the official Vatican site news.va, and it was there for some weeks, until the set of pictures was updated very recently.

I am doing my best to be positive about Pope Francis but so much that is going on simply makes it very difficult.
I try to ignore the 1970s liturgical reversionism and focus on the really good parts of the Holy Father's preaching. Today he gave a sermon on the devil which is a real humdinger.

On an Argentinian blog they are speculating if this is really mere accident since L(a)esus has a meaning in Latin.

“From now on no more 'Francis,' only 'Jesus,' all right?” he asked rhetorically during the Pentecost Vigil Mass said May 18 at Saint Peter's Square.
“All of you in the square shouted out 'Francis, Francis, Pope Francis,' but where was Jesus?” he admonished them. “I want to hear you shout out 'Jesus, Jesus is Lord, and he is in our midst.'”

BTW , what really worries me is how easily Catholics seemed to get used to the fact that the Pope celebrates his daily Holy Mass only in this ugly environment in St. Martha. He has his own magnificent church, St. Peter and other papal basilicas, hasn´t he?

Hence in the year 1583 the Council of Tours ordained that priests should be well instructed in the ceremonies of the Mass: "For fear that the people intrusted to their care, far from entertaining veneration for our divine mysteries, might regard them only with indifference.
How can priests expect by Masses said with such irreverence to obtain graces from God, when during the oblation of these Masses they offend and dishonor him more than they honor him ?"

I finally concluded a couple of weeks ago, in conversation with my spiritual director, that while I can't stop anyone, not even the Pope, from giving scandal, I can elect whether or not I allow myself to be scandalized.
So I'm paying less attention to all of the sound and fury. Yes, it's more or less putting my head in the sand, an option our dear host here does not have.
But I'll teach the Faith to my children, worship in the good parish I'm blessed to have found, and try to avoid letting all the insanity remove me from "the peace that passeth all understanding".
I just don't have the energy to be outraged by the latest "malapopism", scandal, crime crying to Heaven, etc. and do my job, feed my family, raise them in the Faith, etc.

Oh Come on. Its an error, not a neomasonic plot. The church and those for it have made errors since before the cock crowed three times.
Would we rather have a church that spends vast sums of money putting the staff in place to stop this sort of error happening at the expense of the poor?
The flower-arrangement-on-the-right candles-on-the-left thing is standard fare here in most Italian churches (except for the Papal Basilicas, which are notable exceptions, even in their side chapels where daily Masses are celebrated). The surprising thing is that this even happens in Domus Sanctae Marthae. It strikes me as a decorative scheme that was invented by women religious, but why it is allowed in any part of the Vatican is beyond me. Anyhow, it is not uncommon here.

I do hope Gungarius is being ironic (though I fear he probably isn't). I'll happily offer my services as proofreader for all such future releases. Even if I were to charge commercial proofreading rates, I bet it would cost the Vatican very much less than this bizarre fiasco. And that's without even taking into account the negative publicity of having the Catholic Church apparently not knowing the name of its divine founder!

There was a time when whomever struck the coin would have committed Hari-Kari or flat out die of shame for that sort of error. Does no one take pride in their work anymore?
Even so-called "quality" press constantly come up with flaming errors all the time. My 90 year old father-in-law was in one of the so-called quality grocery stores the other week and they had a printed sign up re: "Manuel labour." So my f-i-l asked them how much "Manuel" charged. Again, not all that long ago a printer who'd released such a think would have been ashamed.
