Mother's Bus

Just had someone on the phone from the bus company, they named a bus after Mother Riccarda, my secretary had contacted them suggesting they might bring it along to be blessed.
Never done a bus before!

Dear Father,

What wonderful news about the bus. More fruitful than a Dorkins' "in your face" advertising campaign. Long may she convey all sorts and conditions of men and women to their destinations.

My Priest and Confessor blesses autos once a year...

This can be very dangerous as many times he has almost gotten trampled during the mad dash of Faithful exiting the Church parking lot after Mass.

Be careful, Padre.

I haven't yet seen this number 7. I often look at the Brighton and Hove buses and wonder how much licence is taken with what constitutes Brighton residency! I know Chopin visited Sussex, but did he ever actually live here? But it remains a charming idea and it's entirely fitting that Mother Beauchamp should be commemorated. Well done - quite a coup to add to the church anniversary celebrations too. (If you could bless the 28 and 29 routes in general, it would be extremely appreciated).
Is she the first famed Brighton religious to be bestowed with bus?

Just wait 'til the Dawkinseenies here about this.

Verily, I tell ye, there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

This is great news. :-D You never end up blessing just ONE vehicle....

A few years ago there was a newly minted priest at St. Anne's in San Diego (and FFSP parish) and I noticed after one of the first Masses he'd done the young priest was blessing his own car -- well, predictably he ended up blessing a lot more than just his own car. It was after a Friday weekday evening Mass, so at least he got done in about 40 minutes with all the car blessings.

Oh wonderful!

The Dawkinseenies need to be reminded that the bus was invented by Blaise Pascal - a father of probability theory and a great Catholic Philosopher.

See Father, there is hope for Brighton!

Now the question is do you have an aspergillum big enough for the blessing? Otherwise you may need to bless a rain barrel of water and use a garden hose....:)

At the Basilica of Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel in Belgium vehicles were certainly being blessed in large numbers after a Saturday Mass - the priest used a galvanised bucket and what looked like a lavatory brush.
