Playing Mass
I am told that one of our younger boys has started playing Mass, it started since we began celebrating ad Orientem. thanks to Fr Z for the video
What concerns me, is the young men who want to do it for real.
Say a prayer for a couple of them from here who are both thinking seriously about vocations to the priesthood. The thing they have in common is the Trad. Mass.

I too remember doing this as a (very) young boy during WWII. I & friends often celebrated 'mass' in play. My intention throughout my primary school was to be a priest. I still recall writing an essay aged about 8 years old & saying that I could think of no more marvellous way of spending my life than in bringing our Lord & God onto the altar in Mass.
I my earliest youth (maybe 13 or 14) I felt that I had a vocation as a Benedictine. This did not flourish but I so respect our priests, especially those who celebrate according to the EF. It saddens me that there are some churches which I avoid as the priests do not say even the OF with the care & attention they should.
Father, Please enlighten my dullness; the little boy in the picture is re-enacting a novus ordo, is he not? In your text, your short post mentions the having the Traditional Mass in common. I don't see the connection.
Mike, the little boy is pretending to celebrate the Ordinary Form of the Mass and the two young men who are contemplating the priesthood have the Extraordinary Form of the Mass in common.
Two young men and a little boy who, if it is God's will, may be priests one day.
I can imagine Dawkins watching that and having kittens.
I suppose the problem is some children simply don't grow up and continue to play at Mass.
If and when he's old enough, it would be timely to enrol the lad as a server.
I'm calling defect of form on this one. Doesn't the kid's mom know enough to give him some Welsch's grape juice? Or at least some Nehi Grape.
It is hard enough in the english seminaries really, and this is coming first hand. It does not pay to be even the slightest bit trad in our english seminaries. No kneeling for communion (frowned upon), no EF (apparently it was a spectator sport), dreadful music (including tambourines), never any Latin (apart from great solemnities occasionally Missa de Angelis), frankly the list is endless.
So those young men thinking of priesthood anywhere really really need our prayers.

OK, so the little boy is doing one thing and the two young aspirants to the priesthood are something quite separate. However, read the post again a time or two, and I think you will see that within the context of this very short post it can seem as if all three are being conflated. THAT's what I found confusing.
Now can I take this pointy cap off?
Following the posting of the same video on the blog 'Riposte catholique' it shows a photo today (3lst March) of another young American lad this time dressed as a Priest for the TLM.
Interestingly the blog mentions that St Pius X, Pope Benedict XVI and Cardinal Dolan of New York all 'played' the Mass when children. Apparently children's Mass sets can be bought in America.
