VOCATIONS GROUP
Fr Paul Turner, our Diocesan Vocations Director, is starting a diocesan group for anyone who is 18-35 who is trying to discern what God is calling them to, whatever that might be.
He is inviting speakers to give input and to lead discussion about "choice making" and discernment, discipleship, marriage, celibacy, prayer, priesthood, religious life. It will meet in our Parish Centre in Upper North Street (between the Church and the Hampton Pub) at 7.30pm monthly from this Friday evening.
There is Mass at 7pm by the way

Why are all the images in this video all from traddie religious orders? I am sure that many of them are using the "old rite".
There is something about the habit and the cassock that attracts young men and women.
anonymous,
Look around, sister without habits are dying out, no-one joins them.
Dioceses and orders where priests dress and live distinctly different lives prosper.
The "traddies" have tons of vocations, it's an authentic pull by the Holy Spirit and for the women, repulsion of the polyester pant suit.
Hey, I created the video. Thanks for posting it up here. A few comments:
Actually, with the exception of FSSP, these aren't "traddy" religious orders. In fact, many use the Novus Ordo rite, instead of the Old Rite. In actuality, the way these certain religious orders (Carmelites of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles, the Alliance of the Two Hearts, the Norbertines at St. Michael's Abbey, etc.) celebrate the Novus Ordo is that they retain Gregorian Chant, have masses in Latin, and even Ad Orientem, but all within the bounds of Novus Ordo, among other things. This is because they do not have permission to celebrate the TLM. But rather, they are sort of doing a "reform of the reform" of the Novus Ordo, trying to bring elements of the TLM into the new mass.
And yes, they are characterized by their complete faithfulness to the Magisterium of the Church, retain the religious habit/cassock, Eucharistic-centered, live liturgically-rich lives, and follow an Horarium similar to those that many religious congregations had before the reforms of V2. This explains why they have so many vocations, as the youth are so attracted to them.
Deo Gratias!
