Well done Liechtenstein
Prince Alois of Liechtenstein threatened to use his veto last September to block a plan to legalize abortion, but today the result of a referendum showed 76.1 percent of voters, or 11,629 people supported the Prince.

I think Prince Alois should be guest of honour at the All-Ireland Rally for Life in Belfast next Saturday, 7 July - 2 p.m. Custom House Square!
I think it's not a case of the people supporting the Prince, but rather they are afraid that he and Princely Family will leave. If they did, Liechtenstein would suffer economically, they are dependent on the Prince and his bank to keep them wealthy and a major global centre of finance. It was mammon rather than morals which ruled the day, but then again the result is the same: those pushing for abortion have lost.

He is indeed a great Catholic Prince who has been very active, behind the scenes, in helping Church representatives, and Catholic delegations, to the European Union Parliament. He once spent a whole night discussing, with a Irish Canon Lawyer friend, an amendment to a Bill. The amendment was accepted.
The commment by "Anonymous" is accurate; the royals threatened to leave the country. This was a repeat of what happened in 2003 when Hans Adam III said he would leave if the people didn't grant him almost complete control by allowing him to veto any law passed by parliament. The decision was, as 'anonymous' wrote, more about money than morals. Still, it is very good that the pro-life prince won in this instance.
A referendum in any civilised country would show the same result, the problem is we have an extremely vociferous bunch of lesbians who are Pro Choice and they seem to hold all the cards
nickbris: Surely you jest when saying lesbians are deciding government policy on abortion. If not, some evidence to substantiate your rather outrageous opinion would be welcome.
I do agree that any civilised populace would give a resounding "No" to abortion because civilised people respect life. I have a doctor friend who is an atheist; he will never assist at an abortion because it as a violation of the Hippocratic Oath that he took. That is civilised thinking.
Viva Cristo Rey!
