Pope on Gaudete Sunday

I love the photograph of the Pope throwing golden orb to the world, but I thought I should the context; the Pope framed by the Christmas Tree in St Peter's Square. Yesterday Italian children brought il bambino to church to be blessed.

Gaudete, Gaudete - we don't have Christmas trees in Lent.

You were right the first time. Laetare is the Lent one, the introit on the 4th Sunday begins "Laetare Ierusalem".

3rd Sunday in Advent introit begins "Gaudete in Domino semper"

If we were singing the correct introits every Sunday nobody would get mixed up.

And there is of course the nice verse anthem by Purcell with the same words in English.
