The Canadian Experience of Marriage Legislation

A little video about the effects the change in marriage laws in Canada (thanks to JS), it seems like mad, mad place.

The Attorney General suggests the same thing will happen here, so too does the C4M's tame QC, Aidan O’Neill.

But, Father, they have assured us it will not happen here!

The mettle of a lot of bishops and clergy is going to sorely tested.

Blimey. Scroll back 50 odd years the 'threats' on blue screen would seem newspeakish - fiction. How quickly fantasy can become reality when truth is ejected from the narrative. Babel...only this time the tower seems to want to go the other way.

There is nothing like the push for "Same sex marriage" to engender ill will towards homosexuals.

Petrus.
The examples in video were about threats, fines, lost jobs, demonisation, villification of people for defending a traditional understanding of marriage.

Are you really claiming they are all persecuted homosexuals? I think that is taking gay victimhood to an extreme.

The video would carry a little more impact if the presenter had noted that some of the things she mentioned, eg, 'gay-straight alliances', have been imposed by the government of Ontario, not of federal Canada. The video itself is about an upcoming vote in Minnesota, not in the whole of the USA. Nevertheless, it is a warning of the totalitarianism that is very evident now in parts of the'free' world.

Just received this slideshow presentation of "Gay myths" from David Skinner at Anglican Mainstream:

Fr Ray - I think you misunderstood me.

The point I was making is that the aggressive push for "same sex marriage" causes me and I am sure others to become somewhat defensive.

The examples in that video stir ill feelings on my part towards homosexuals. I have to make a concerted effort to suppress those feelings and act in a more Christian manner.

Somebody just sent me this disturbing story from Catholic Spain. It takes liberal secularist 'tolerance' to a new level.

Is there such a word as, 'Heterophobic'? My spell-checker says there isn't.

It seems a very underused word. I wonder if there have been any prosecutions brought against 'attacks' on the rights the heterosexual.

If we remember we are all wretched sinners that only find grace through the merits of Christ's victory it's not so easy to think others are more wretched than ourselves, I've found, but then better to think, 'poor wretch', than what a 'so and so'. That said we've been given the grace to understand, sometimes, where sin and it's progenitor lurk.
