The rabbi of the Western Wall says officials barred visiting Irish church leaders from praying there because they were wearing crosses.
Roman Catholic Cardinal Sean Brady, Church of Ireland Archbishop Alan Harper and Presbyterian and Methodist Moderators John Finlay and Roy Cooper arrived Thursday at the wall in the Old City of Jerusalem without informing Israeli authorities, Brady told the Irish broadcast network RTE.
"We encountered some difficulty in gaining access. There was a difficulty about us wearing our crosses," he said. "We were under constraints of time... and we decided to move on."
The site's rabbi, Shmuel Rabinowitz, said all must respect its sanctity to Jews. "They were asked to remove the crosses, but they refused," he said.

I see our capitulation over the Good Friday wasn't enough for some...
Are Christians really this stupid, why would they let them go to the wall with crucifix's?
Christ was a false messiah and a blasphemer according to the Jews, if they didn't think that then they would be Christians.
Volpius. It isn`t quite that simple. Jewish people don`t all think that. A lot of them just don`t know and are bound by their family tradition. We need them to remain in position holding the gate open for Christians, and then in the twinkling of an eye, to be willing to follow us. They ain`t gonna do it, if we`re aggressive towards them. Come on, give them a break. Our Saviour was Jew.
I wasn't been aggressive, I was been understanding.
To Jews who actually follow and believe in Judaism (ie not cafeteria Jews) Christ must seem to them like Luther seems to Catholics that's all I'm saying.
I'm just been realistic here. I can understand why they wouldn't be happy having Christians at the wailing wall with crosses and all because I would feel the same if heretics came and started promoting the heresiarch they follow at say the Holy Sepulchre for example while I a was trying to pray there.
The answer is to convert them, not to pretend that these very real issues which divide us don't exist but rather to bring them to an understanding of the truth, Christ was the Messiah promised in the Old Testament.
