A Catholic King Meets the Vicar of Christ
King Albert and Queen Poala of the Belgiums are received in audience by the Pope. I just wonder how the President and Presidentina of Europe will greet him.
Pray it is not pro-abortion, "I gave a skip of joy" Tone and "my contraceptive equipment" Chez. There is just too much innocent blood on his hands.

Are you SURE you don't want BHO as EU President? I'm sure he wants to be king of the Universe. He needs to be shipped off to somewhere, and Brusselles is as good as place as any, pending the River Styx.
There was a report today that Cherie Blair met Ian Paisley once, and he refused to shake her hand.
Apparently, he thought she was a Catholic.
ROTFL Michael. BTW, I was surprised, not too long ago, to see that Ian Paisley was still living. I'd thought he'd "slipped the surly bonds" eons ago, given he was bashing catholics when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
A rare sight to see a Catholic monarch bend the knee to the successor of the Peter.
After Lisbon it seems Europe has gone the way of the antichristic, and the technocracy will be engineering the great Ant (or dog) Colony to come, wherein each person allowed to live had better know his or her place. Is the Church in Great Britain apprehensive, indifferent or enthusiastic?
And what is the assessment of Benedict's calling for world government "with teeth"?
...that woman appears to be wearing white and not the traditional black for meeting a Pope...
She wears white as the privilege of a Catholic Queen.
Partriculas
When Catholic Queens meet the Holy Father they enjoy the Privilège du blanc so its ok that she's wearing white.
Euroskeptic Nazis will have us all "chipped".It is only the EU that will protect us from extremists.
Patricius: "That woman", as you rather rudely refer to her, is Queen Paola of Belgium. Being a Catholic, it is tradition that she be dressed in white when meeting a pope; such is the right of all female royals, or heads of state, who are Catholic. It is non-Catholic royalty, or heads of state, who traditionally wear black on such occasions.
I believe it's only non-Catholic monarchs (heads of state) who have to wear black when meeting the Holy Father.
Patricius,
'That woman' is my Queen, Queen Paola of the Belgians. I am proud to be a subject of their Majesties. Not often does one see a Head of State display the correct attitude towards the Holy Father!
It must be noted that Catholic Queens may invoke the 'Privilege du Blanche'(i.e. wear white) when meeting the Pope. Those entitled to are, Queen Sofia of Spain, Queen Paola of Belgium, Queen Fabiola of Belgium, and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.
The protocols on dress are no longer in force (since the 1980's) and they disregarded by many Heads of State.
Cherie Blair wore white when she met the pope in 2006. One wonders if it was a failure of advice or wishful thinking!

As the wife of a Catholic Monarch, the Queen of the Belgians is entitles to wear white.
As the Wikipedia article quoted above relates, Cherie Blair thinks she can do the same. Words fail me.
Patricius, Catholic Queens traditionally wear white when meeting the Pope. They are the exception to the general rule. All other ladies wear black.
Of course, one can wear what one wants when one visits the Pope, Catholic or not. What a load of nonsense.
Ronan, I'd like to see you go and try yourself to have a private audience with the Pope and wear what you want.
Kidipedia is a mine of misinformation just like the GARBAGE PRESS.
Thanks for the sartorial advice, Ronan. I still have some turquoise polyester hotpants from 1972. I shall wear them, if I can find a mantilla to match. I bet Cherie's got a pair tucked away somewhere, ready for her first audience as La Prezzzidenzzzia.
"Kidipedia is a mine of misinformation just like the GARBAGE PRESS"
Except, of course, for the articles written by yours truly.
King Albert signed signed 'Belgium's recent euthanasia and homosexual-marriage laws over his private Catholic beliefs' unlike his late brother King Baudouin who 'abdicated for a day in 1990 to avoid signing a Belgian abortion law':http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,594398,00.html. A Catholic king?
Fr. Gary, I'd hope that when i get dressed up to the nines and kiss his ring that the Pope would accept it with humility as the mark of respect it is meant as. I wouldn't expect to be critiqued by the groupies!
