I can understand why some priests turn to drink or worst! It times like this one when feels particularly alone.
We are going to have to have to have Mass in our Parish Centre over the weekend, how we do it I don't know, it is going to be quarts into pint pots.
During the week there will only be Mass at 10am in the Parish Centre, there will be no Friday evening Mass and to be on the safe side the Missa Solemnis on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is cancelled.
If you come here on Sundays try and go elsewhere.
Say a prayer God will speed the work.

Don't worry. We often turn up to find our church closed. It's been going on for years.
Mass is often cancelled with no notice. The various keyholders can't be bothered to open the church or keep it open during times when working people need to visit.
It's cool. We get it.

Sorry to hear about the asbestos. We found out that my late parents' home in Cheshire had it in the loft - via a buyer's survey - and just as my two big sisters were off to the U.S. for two weeks. So Baby sis organised it all from London, and it took two days - and they were super-efficient and cleaned up brilliantly. It cost about £2-3k. I hope you have similar luck. Use a specialist and shop around if you are not already committed

Look at it this way: it's temporary, whereas I have a permanent prob.
I live at the centre of a triangle of churches and have to steel myself to attend the one least likely to bring me out in hives.

Can't we borrow St Michael and All Angels for an hour? Is it one of those High Anglican places that is going to come over to Rome? The acoustics are wonderful. We once sang some chant there.
