I went into the Church this evening and our choir was practicing for the All Souls Mass next Monday. It is a High Mass in the Extraordinary Form, at 7.30pm, if you want to come along. I could have wept with joy but being English I don't do that sought of thing. They were singing the Faure Requiem, some parts were really quite exquisite. I am just amazed how they have improved over the last few months.
I am not blowing their trumpet, actually I am very proud of them and quite biased and admittedly I don't get out much but I don't think that I have heard better in a Catholic Parish Church outside of the Metropolis or the University cities.

That's brilliant. Thanx for posting this video.
When God listens to the singing in our church He reaches out for the headache tablets.
God bless.
It's a beautiful piece of music, for but what is it you especially like about it? The key, all the cellos? The melody itself? The words? Beats Michel Row the Boat Ashore for sure, but what part moves you to tears?
[Or is that even definable?\
This morning the delightful Fr. M. of St. Anne's in San Diego did a "Mass for the dead" -- it was nice, and somehow he got through it, Te Deum and all in 38 minutes flat, which for him is lightening speed. [He hit the "Hoc est Corpus Meum" in 18 minutes.

I don't like much, but I like the fact my choir can sing it
The only musical accompaniment at Mass this evening was a remarkably loud cellphone that went off during the Eucharistic prayer. Naturally, it was on the person of the woman sitting behind me. No Faure, just a cheesy Calypso tune . . .
:-D I hope there will be no b*tching and whining!!![Hope you keep the stiff upper lip for Mass.]
Thanks for the compliments!
Fauré's music is the sort that converts people!
What's not to like, Fr Ray?
It's sublime - especially the 'In Paradisum' which has been sung at the funerals of four out of the last five Popes and, IIRC, that of Cardinal Hume.
