Fr Ray,
Wonderful photos Of the start of The Sacred Tridumm-Holy Thursday's liturgy !I wish I could have been there also.
God Bless You In This Holy Season.
Michael.
Absolutely stunning!!! Beautifully done! wish I could of been there. Very differently done in our English seminaries I have to say!
Just a tad shorter and some of the locals would be enthusing. Couldn't follow the Gradual, was there a misprint there somewhere?
A very beautiful and dignified Mass, celebrated after sunset. Almost Oratorian in its quiet rhythm.
I wished it could have been longer - perhaps the full Gospel of the Passion one day? But you can't please all the people!
The choir sang as one voice, which is pretty much the gold standard. Well done them.
The only thing missing was the wooden clapper.
I've had the complexities of Gregorian Chant explained to me so I must apologise to Claire for my rude remark about the Gradual.
Looking forward to the candlelit procession tonight, the weather looks ideal for a change.
I must remember to check our ancient wooden clapper before next Easter this year it fell apart when I used it during the consecration, one half bounced across the floor,I had to continue holding two seperate halves and banging them together ,it didnt sound quite the same.
Students at seminary are no longer instructed in gregorian chant which handicaps them when attempting to learn the TLM especially during the Sacred Triduum. This became apparent during the services I attended.
Could someone please post a link which provides the text and rubrics to the Novus Ordo latin version of the Sacred Triduum?
I think they are pretty well instructed in chant in our seminary.
As a new visitor to Mary Magdalene's I must say I loved all the Holy Week services. Thank you very much!
