I am not begging for gifts to our sacristy, but so many priests are a little wary of both the cost, style and quality of vestments in the UK.
I found in the a link to this German site on Roving Medievalist. There are some rather gruesome things from the 1980s, but then there is this and similar things, and all from 771 euros, now what is the German for "ombrellino".

Sonnenschirm is German for parasol if that helps? ... Sonnenschirm is German for parasol if that helps? You would have to insert the adjective "klein" before it if you wish to suggest small as in "small parasol" which accounts for the "ino" in the Italian.
On the subject of things "Germanic Italian", there is a story going around that B16's Italian isn't as good as JP2's. Any views on this? I spotted a mistake in his first unscripted speech when he appeared on the loggia 2 years ago. In contrast, when JP2 appeared in 1978 he spoke for much longer (over 5 minutes) and flawlessly. Moreover, he hadn't had the benefit of living there for the preceeding 20 years (although he was a much younger man than our current Holy Father:- 58 when compared to 78). Nevertheless, JP2 was a truly gifted linguist.
For the one used at church you say "Obrellino". The one out of church is a "Sonnenschirm", no matter whether it's big or small.
Yowza that's beautiful.
I'll donate a bit if you want to set up a paypal account for donations.
Ah that is what the Council meant by noble simplicity!
you could get good vestments for a fraction of the cost in Europe from nuns in the Philippines. Here are some samples. I took those photos last january.
great idea yes set up a paypal account can only do good ,think of all the donations across the world for vestments church needs ect go for it......
Very kind of you Ma Beck but no, I was not asking for donations, although I am always pleased to accept gifts from parishioners for the Church.
Better for people to give to their own parishes, especially if the gifts are fitting for the liturgy and encourage the use of good vestments, furnishings etc.
However I have heard of a warehouse somewhere in Belgium where there a racks of redundant antique vestments, church plate etc., anyone heard of it?
