Bishop Michael Evans

A reader alerted me to a letter from Bishop Michael Evans of East Anglia about his declining health and coming death, I have always been by impressed his courage.

He taught theology at Wonersh when I was there. I am indebted to him for his course on the Blessed Trinity which brought the central doctrine of our faith alive for me and through it in many ways changed my life.

Pray for this good man and devoted Bishop.

We have been blessed to be members of Bishop Michael's flock. He receieved me into the Church and we have all loved his gentle, loving presence at every Mass he has celebrated at the Cathedral. He truly just shines with goodness and kindness. We have been ill and not at Mass so we missed this being announced locally - it was a HUGE shock to read this post, and we were very moved to read his letter. His desire to remain as our Bishop, to continue loving and serving and praying and evangelising through this last part of his life on earth is intensely humbling and glorious. May God bless him greatly in this stage of his journey to heaven.

I have a prayer card with an olive leaf from the Garden of Gethsemenai with this prayer:

O most merciful Jesus, Lover of Souls, I pray Thee by Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thy Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their agony and are to die this day. Amen.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, have mercy on the dying.

There are also a good number of prayers here:
