Chapel Screened Off in St Peter's
Rome Reports runs this video, almost 3 minutes of a screen in St Peter's Basilica, presumably hiding some kind of work. It is front of the Chapel of Saint Sebastian next to the Pieta, which until now has contained the remains Innocent XI who died in 1689.
According to rumour, spread by the French news agency I Media, it is being prepare for the body of Pope John Paul II once he is beatified.
I must admit I'm not a Canonisation subito fan, my Coptic Orthodox friends will not allow any process until the candidate has been dead for 70 years.

Something that the present Catholic church should take note off, in their quest for ecumenism at all costs.
I have to agree with Auricalis & you Father. Sometimes we go too far too fast (eg Vat II?)
With the present day embalming systems I hope we are not relying on the 'incorrupt' body of either JPII or JXXIII. Such reliance makes us look like medieval fools.
Before 'subito' canonisation we must wait to see what long term good (if any) these popes made to the Church & the world
Perhaps at the Altar of the Transfiguration might be a suitable place for the body, the "mirror" across the nave of Bl John XXIII at the Altar of St Jerome
I'm another fan of santo lentamente. If God is pleased to call John Paul II immediately into the Beatific Vision, then his intercession is already at work, whether the Church declares it to be so or not. If he is waiting like most of us have to, then the Church declaring otherwise will not change that fact.
The Vatican Saint-o-matic is a bit disconcerting sometimes. Perhaps we make less use of the title Venerable than we ought: there are many holy men and women whose lives should be held up as shining examples to us of heroic virtue, and yet have given no indication to the world that they are saints.
God forbid.
What have they done with Blessed Innocent?
I was disturbed to read of the sacking of the devil's Advocate, as well. This is not a reflection on the worthiness of any candidate - but every vehicle needs brakes as well as an accelerator.
I doubt that I shall ever invoke his aid - even if I live long enough\9 most unlikely,D.g.) to see him canonised.
According to Andrea Tornielli's blog, Pope John Paul II will be beatified on May 1st - noting that May 1st is Labor Day and JP II was certainly a laborer...
I share you view Father about the Santo subito clamor after his death. However, given JPII's penchant for frequent additions to the sanctoral list, I expect there is some congruity to it.
