What I don't want for Christmas

I know I am not the only priest who chucked the poster advertising this in the bin as soon as it arrived. Damian Thompson whose writings on music I always enjoy doesn't restrain himself too much in what he has to say about it.

There is, of course, a significant relatedness between the subject of this post and that of the preceding one.

I think it will be a BEST-SELLER.It's got to be a whole lot better than the ghastly rubbish we have to shout over in the pubs these days.

I like it and it will sell. Better than most of the pop rubbish out there. However The Priests have a new CD out on 23rd.

Let me guess. You are REALLY hankering for an official Red Ryder carbine action 200 rounds air rifle. The one with the thing that tells time.

Or perhaps one of these babies. You'd be the only priest with one of those. [Well, maybe Fr. Orthometer.]

From what I've read, they have taken snips from the Pope saying Mass on various occasions (as recorded for broadcast on Vatican Radio), and laid them over some modern guff.

Unfortunately with recording technology these days, nothing is safe from this sort of thing. Although if it is as bad as Damian says (and he's usually pretty good on music), it's disappointing that Vatican Radio gave permission for it.
