Thats what Pope Benedict XVI told some two thousand male and female Franciscan religious gathered at Castel Gandolfo following a meeting of their chapter in Assisi this past week. The Pope noted that the franciscan family has from the very start been obedient to the pope and authentically spiritual while many other movements have opposed the Magisterum. The pope asked Franciscans to become the living word, to continue their spiritual renewal and to help the Churchs pastors bring more and more faithful into the fold.

Thank goodness for the Brown habits. It beats the chino's, jumpers trendily draped over the shoulders, and open neck shirts any day.
I'm glad the Pope gave them encouragement and commended them for their obedience. They deserve it and please God they will go from strength to strength.
The Franciscans, OFM and Capuchins wear brown habit while the Conventauls wear gray habit, other Third Order Regulars even wear black habit. And there's the modernist (esp. some Franciscan Yankee monjas)who wears a power suit or a momo dress.
Fr Gary V, I take it it's the nuns who wear the power suits with the Joan Collins shoulders but, pray, what is a momo dress and why should men want to wear one?
Momo dress is a loose tropical cotton dress for women. It is appropriate for relaxation & summer outfit in the U.S. (men don't wear these). Most pacific islanders wear these dress.
