English Bishops attack Pope Benedict

I am sure that it is that wicked Damian Thompson just being his dreadful self.

The Bishops of England and Wales are absolutely Orthodox!

The Bishops are totally supportive of the Holy Father!

We know they are the best Episcopal Conference in Europe!

If you look at the comments on his blog in a couple of hours I am sure that Bishop Budd or one of the brilliant, rigourously orthodox, well informed, totally loyal, theologically literate, underpaid staff of understaffed Ecclesdon Square (hq of the Bishop's Conference) will reply and put any minds that are unsettled to rest.

Damian is telling porkies so don't even look at his blog, he has got his own agenda.

I am sure Bishop Budd is already consulting lawyers and thinking about banning The Torygraph in his diocese.
Wicked, naughty Damian, how could you, don't you know how hurtful criticism is?
I quite understand why the Church Times called him a "blood crazed ferret", holding bishop to account, no-one else does, why should he?

Well done Ray, veery objective, if only you stop this nonsense about wanting to say the Old Mass, which is adequately supplied everywhere in the country... well let us say Middlesborough is very nice at this time of year.

Thank you for the insight on this particular post, I think you will look good in pointed hat. Pity you went to the wrong seminary.
We need more of this type of journalism, especially your very accurate appraisal of the Episcopal Conference, though some would say, "the world", and not just "Europe", even that shows moderation, well done!

We must all remain very calm.

I feel sure the Bishops of England & Wales will rise as one man to defend the Holy Father, and pledge anew their wholehearted loyalty to him.

Look how magnificently they have responded to his Motu Proprio "Summorum Pontificum" ...

Of one mind with me, and my friends.

If that Thompson logs on here, I hope he realises there are many rooms at Ecclesdon Square, and some are less pleasant than others!

The Bishop of Plymouth has always been a sceptre of orthodoxy, hammer of heretics, defender of life, upholder of tradition, so obvious from his continued defence of Humanae Vitae.

That image of CB is taken from a BBC website in which he was dropping the late John Ward in the "$%&#" following the conviction of Joe Jordan.

"Pity you went to the wrong seminary".

Interesting point. I know that at Ushaw a student was thrown out this year for downloading essays of the internet. Whilst another student who was engaging in homosexual harassement of a fellow student was sent for "counselling".

Yet our Bishop has just sent an 18 yo there - madness! Madness!

Ushaw is the wrong seminary for just about everybody. Indeed, I think it disgraceful that with the VEC close to empty, Ushaw's continued existence can be justified.

Presumably said 18 yo is too much of an "oik" for the VEC.

As a classical Anglican Catholic who is well used to the gloating of many Roman Catholics in the blogsphere about the chaos of modern Anglicanism, can I just say, welcome to the club, being orthodox in any ecclesial community is, today, becoming a minority identity.

Fr Ray Blake said...

But my dear Anonymous Anglican friend,

It is quite different for members of Ecclesial Communities than it is for those in full communion with the Church of Christ.

We know what the bishops should be teaching. For us the problem is not that they have merely chosen the wrong course but that they have decided to promote things which are contrary to the Magisterium of Christ's Church.

Perhaps this latest erudition is merely following in the tradition of "The Gift of Scripture" which defined 'inerrancy' as appertaining only to those parts of Scripture which relate to Catholic Teaching...other bits might be...well....wrong!
