saturno tip to Mulier Fortis who twitches her mantilla to favourite Neanderthal. She takes a rather harsh attitude to the Reverend Gentleman, I ..... well I..., I think before I type but then I am a man!

I'm glad I'm a bachelor.
If he is the example of that kind of "male" thinking, there won't be many around to hear what he has to say - he'd have lost his audience long before he opened his mouth. How sad that they are so....ummm - one-sided! And, Fr., you aren't being unkind to the ladies - thanks for the heads-up.
Yes, this sums up Eve, Auntie Joanna, Mulier Fortis, Sister Joan Chitister OSB, Mother Angelica, Margaret Hebblethwaite, Lavinia Byrne and Gretel Kung to a T. It almost makes me want to have ecumenical relations with Islam. Yak, yak, yak.
Now I understand! So Women are from Mars and Men are from Venus hasn't made it into the hands of islamic scholars yet...
Forget the sexist guy in the white mantilla, there is a comment on Mac's post from a guy who wants to buy one. Now that is High Church!
I think he may have a point ;-)! I'm reminded of a particularly tricky undergraduate Physics seminar. The only two people to make any contribution were the two females present (that includes me!). Afterwards one of the male students inquired as to why we asked such mindnumbingly stupid questions, was it a woman thing? We replied by asking whether he had understood any of it himself and he admitted he was as in the dark as we were.
We didn't mind looking stupid, the men were the wussy wimps!
I thought I was rather kind to the Caveman...
;-)
Anon 2,
The first time I think Mac of MF has been lumped in with Sr Joan or I suspect Mss Hebblethwaite & Byrne.
As for Ms Kung, I have always suspected she was a he, or one at least a "Brighton person".
"at least a "Brighton person"."
What is a "Brighton person"?
This guy's a hoot and a half. No wonder Arabs are so messed up. I have never seen anyone, male or female in western culture start babbling, then say "No, no, no, this is not the subject I am talking about." This explains a lot ...they are all living with crazy women. I had another laugh at the end where the guy said "The woman asks her husband...why are you silent?"
US comedian Jeff Foxworth could give him an answer:
"You ladies all want to know:
'what's he thinking?'
well, ladies, let me inform you from age 16 on the average man is thinking:
'I'd like a beer and I'd like to see somethin' nekkid'
I wish it was more complicated than that, but that's about it, we're simple creatures."
The vid. is even funnier if you put the mute on and just watch this guy's hand movements. Funnier than watching a translator for the deaf sign the "Getting Married Today" number from the musical COMPANY.
Which can be seen here:

Oh for goodness sake. Its a JOKE
Is it really appropriate to incite gender stereotyping on the website of a Roman Catholic church? Father Blake, I don't know you; I was simply using the internet to find a Catholic church to attend as I am new to Brighton. Having seen this clip and other parts of your website I am somewhat surprised that you feel that you can publish such things in the public domain. I don't want to prematurely judge your church by what I've seen here and indeed I may come to Holy Mass in your church but if this website is anything to go by, I'm quite sure I won't come back a second time and I will look for another Catholic church. Your website disappoints me.
I also think that Karen of San Diego should be added to the list in my earlier comment.
Father, I believe a Brighton person is a person who lives in or has had some kind of connection with the city of Brighton and Hove. He or she will most likely be slightly eccentric and may feel an 'outsider' in conventional society.

Didn't you find this in the slightest bit amusing? I don't think you would be very happy in any Brighton Catholic church without just the tiniest hint of a sense of humour.
If you can't find it humourous, then take it as an demonstration of how silly it is justify religious or cultural mores without using reason. Taking it as an illustration of the dangers illustrated in the Pope's Regensburg speech (see below), an illustration of "fideism" in action.
I expect readers to think, and to use the critical abilities God has given them!

Humour at the expense of millions of women in a highly oppressed culture, Father Blake, is not funny to me. It is maybe you who should develop your critical reasoning.
I'm sorry anonymous...but that was really funny. Nobody is saying all islamic clerics are like that, it would have been just as funny if a Catholic Bishop had made the video...Although nowadays, that wouldn't be such a surprise, given that they're more into "social" teaching than the Magisterium.
I tend to agree that the video clip was probably a little insensitive. Many women do not appreciate this form of pseudo-humour.
Get a life for heavensake! I think if I were a moslem I might get upset, but being a Catholic woman in my 30s I find it hillarious, I have sent it on to my frends.
If you get upset see Mulier Fortis' comments.
"Your website disappoints me."
It might disappoint her/him, Father, but I love it, especially the humour, thanks.
I'm secure enough in my womanhood to see the humor in it.
It's funny because it's ridiculous, like fish riding bicycles or Sr. Joan speaking.
No one has EVER oppressed me in the Catholic Church, no one has ever spoken down to me or made me feel inferior. In fact, it's one of the few places on this planet where I feel completely and utterly safe and respected.
If someone does that to you, it's THEIR problem, not yours, and it does NOT represent the views of the Catholic Church.
You can't do ANYTHING nowadays without offending someone - not even posting ridiculous stick-figures who stereotype is safe.
To Haughty "Anonymous" (with no sense of humour).
You are in the wrong town - "Outraged" lives in Tunbridge Wells.
"... if this website is anything to go by, I'm quite sure I won't come back a second time and I will look for another Catholic church. Your website disappoints me."
If you get off your high horse and review the archives of Fr Ray's blog, you'll find evidence of good teaching and pastoral care. I, for one, am grateful for Fr Ray's ministry, which far surpasses his parish boundaries.
If you don't like the blog, consider whether Jesus is speaking to you in Matthew 7:6.
God bless you.
By the way, this might cheer you up: I'm informed by another anonymous person out there that my "...manifest ignorance... gives the rest of us traditionalists a bad name." My sin? Aparently, I don't know the difference between the genitive plural and the accusative ingular.
Well, I'm still having fun.
Uh, Anonymous? You there? I don't know what part of planet earth you are from but where I am from "Karen" is exclusively a woman's name. That should have tipped you off that I wasn't agreeing with it...just pointing out how absurd it was. Now if you had to LIVE in such a culture, that would be different. I mean, do you really think any western person, male or female took that seriously?
Where I'm from we use stupid videos like that as a lunchpad to try and cap on it. In your part of the world is a guy in a sheet using MSPaint and giggling like a schoolboy looking at "rude pictures" in the National Geographic really taken seriously?
The funny part is if you really do a "mute" and just watch his hand gestures particularly at the end, it's comic beyond belief. The part where he was talking about "women mentioning two or three subjects" the guy kept gesticulating with BOTH hands in front of his chest making circular motions. Like he was NOT thinking along the lines of 22AAA cup. His actions kind of betrayed him.
I was beside myself with the stick figures....they both looked like teenaged weirdos with mohawk cuts that were popular for about 30 minutes "Back in the day." But I guess if it has to be 'splained to you....
Mary Pistello - my "knuckle sandwich" comments were meant to be tongue-in-cheek... I found the clip extremely funny, which is why I put it on my blog in the first place!
I found it funny, and I'm a girl!
What really makes me laugh as a woman is the familiarity but total twisting of reality. Now all us good women are very familiar with that rabbit in the headlights look in the eyes when we ask our men what would often appear like simple straight forward questions. For example - how many beers did you say you had?
Did you put the bins out?
Did you post that letter?
Did you eat ALL the biscuits?
Most reasonable women expect a simple monosylabic reasonably immediate answer. Instead what we invariably get is that six second delay, that delay that says nothing but is pregnant with the frantic gyrations of a most busy machine, the excuse generator!
This punk in bedsheets has the termidity to imply a higher reason for this male affliction. Sorry Sheiky it just doesn't wash! Get outside and do something more useful like dig a sand dune or something. That little painttool you've got going in your hightec torra bora cave won't help you make friends with your missus will it?
Any woman who finds this offensive deserves to be offended for showing such a lack of understanding of the opposite sex. Wake up girl - of course they like to paint a great picture of themselves, but we all know the truth don't we? In any case, what of it, we can't help but love them anyway!
Clare,I think its funny too and I'm also a girl. And I agree with Philip Devon - its a JOKE for goodness' sake. And as for poor anonymous - I wonder what sort of church he/she wants?
What a hoot, I mean the Anonymous's comment, she can't be serious.
