How incredibly impressive was the Mass from the Vatican last night. The solemn ritual, the reverence, the Latin , the old Canon , the short periods of silent prayer, the extremely self-effacing celebrant, the reverent communicants, it was a poetic tribute to the Creator. Nor was the sermon one of pious platitudes it was a direct and uncompromising proclamation of the Christian message. I watched it on German television , would that English channels would do likewise, and thank God for the elderly German who is making such beneficial changes.

And to you, too, Father. Thank you for all you do.

The Vatican Mass was so beautiful. Incense, candles, and a bit of Latin (none of which we ever get to smell, see, or hear. That's ok. I have tons of church incense at home and plenty of candles. I can even handle the Latin quite well.

That particular statue of the baby Jesus is wonderful except (always watch for what comes after except, but, or however), the little rays coming off his head really bother me. They look like little daggers sticking into his head. Maybe I watched too many horror movies in my youth.

Anyway --- Happy Christmas, Father and thank you for a great blog....
