Say a Prayer

Say a prayer for a South American woman in my parish, for three years she has been in Brighton with her little girl. She is homeless and her and her child move from friend to friend spending a few days here, a few days there. They have lived like this all the time she has been in England. She is terrified that if she is forced to return home she and her child will be killed by her child's father, a drug dealer and a gangster.

Also pray for some of the priests of my diocese who are feeling a little broken and concerned about the future at the moment.

Dear Father

We will pray for this lady and her family.

Please be assured that we will also pray for the priests in your diocese. We will pray especially for you to have continued strength and a blessed Christmas - in particular thank you for all the encouragement you give out to Catholics and others seeking God on your blog site.

With every good wish - in Christ
Alan and Angeline

I can understand the feeling of the priests especially after reading the article in this weeks Catholic Herald by the Bishop. What is left of the faith here ?

Saint Benedict Joseph Labre, you gave up honor, money and home for love of Jesus. Help us to set our hearts on Jesus and not on the things of this world. You lived in obscurity among the poor in the streets. Enable us to see Jesus in our poor brothers and sisters and not judge by appearances. Make us realize that in helping them we are helping Jesus. Show us how to befriend them and not pass them by.

Saint Benedict Joseph Labre, you had a great love for prayer. Obtain for us the grace of persevering prayer, especially adoration of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Saint Benedict Joseph Labre, poor in the eyes of men but rich in the eyes of God, pray for us. Amen.

I will inform friends and family to pray for the mother and child. This is a serious situation and requires God's intervention.

She should inform the Spanish Consulate of his treachery and have the Spanish authorities deal with him. Also she should seek asylum in the U.K., based on her husband's threats against mother and child.

A merry Christmas to her and her child!

Marc she is South American, from a rather lawless country, not Spanish.

Yes, Father, I will pray this woman and child get a better situation. Is she allowed to legally seek work? And I will certainly keep all the clerics of your diocese in my prayers. I do hope you all form good groups amongst yourselves for mutual support and fraterity and love in Jesus Christ.

It’s difficult to know what to say, Father. I guess many of us know the tensions under which priests labour. We pray that Christ will make your burden light, although He may not be ready to do so quite yet. Just know that there are a number of us out here who are doing our best to give practical support. Prayers for the lady and her child who have no home this Christmas.

All intentions added to my prayer list. 'Bon courage' to the excellent men of A&B.

Certainly you have my prayers Father, especially for the presbyterium. I personally know two young priests that have left the ministry. It seemed as though the tension and the secularism of England was too much for them. Bishops need to get back to being brothers to their priests. They often seem so remote.

Prayers said Father-for the mother and child and for the priests of A&B. I've prayed for all of us trying to bring our children up in the Faith. We are SO up against it!

I am sure all is being done for the mother but I wondered if Life has a house near you that could help??
