Christies sent me an email saying these we coming up for auction soon, they are not real, they are in the "style of" and from "the Property of the Smith-Barry Estates, removed from the Old Priory, Gloucestershire & Property of St Mary's University College, removed from Strawberry Hill, Twickenham", they are estimated to reach between £7oo - £1,000.
The "after" Raphael will set you back between £7,000 - £1,000.
Just a gentle reminder that the Saints of God love presents being given to their Churches, St Mary Magdalen does most especially.
Speaking of which, there is a story of a Brighton High Church Anglican vicar who announced to his congregation, "Next week we celebrated the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and it is traditional to give her presents, now she doesn't like Black Magic Chocolates, but she does like a drop of gin of a night".
The same guy used to give tarrot card readings at his parish fete and when young men came to him in confession would ask them the "star sign", which would often elicit the response, "Ohh! If you are a ..., it means you are predisposed to that, you can't do anything about it, it is in the stars!"

"Ohh! I am a human being, it means I am predisposed to sinning, I can't do anything about it, it is in the Original Sin!"
A tarot reading Anglican clergyman, who gives astrological advice in the confessional? Whatever next?
"Whatever next?" A sharia-believing "Archbishop" of Canterbury.
The Archbishop of Canterbury calling for the introduction of Sharia Law. FFN
oh give him a break Oliver; an anglican who actually believes in something - even if it's New Age baloney - is at least a start !
The link you give to Christies only v
gives two pictures. Presumably there are more than that if you post is correct. Can one access the other paintings and if so how do you start to get the full site for that auction. ?
Father, I that cas you have to log into Christies through their site.
The picture of the Madonna and Child looks more like a Raphael ..
Sorry.
The comment was suppose to finish :
"But I can't place which one. Does anyone know ?
It's a jolly good copy."
what about the Catholic lady who always made a list of her sins but lost it on her way to church. She announced to a somewhat astonished confessor - "Father I have left my sins in Tescos".
Can anyone think of any Anglican oddity of belief or practice which is not replicated in the Catholic Church? A perusal of traditionalist books and websites would suggest that they can find plenty to worry about. How orthodox is Fr Kung? How wonderful is the New Order? Perhaps people in glass houses should not throw stones, even if they are justified.
I am told that last Saturday the preacher at an Anglican High Mass (of the Traditional Anglican Communion) with the old Roman Canon all in Cranmerian English, was Fr Aidan Nichols OP. It was held at St Agatha's Church, Portsmouth. This is especially interesting since Fr Nichols is an outstanding theologian and the TAC is at present petitioning Rome for full union with the Holy See. Fr Nichols had of course the permission of the Catholic Bishop in whose diocese he preached.
